Motley

This amazing footstool/ottoman by SCP was designed by textile designer Donna Wilson.  The Motley is a button-tufted, hand-knitted wool footstool inspired by the classic Chesterfield sofa and is available in 4 colourways.  This one definitely goes on my "if I were rich" list!

Ellen Hanson Designs

I just came across the work of Ellen Hanson (thanks to 1st Dibs).  Her work has a level of class and sophistication not seen too often these days.  I'm absolutely in LOVE with the floors in the first picture (below) and the rug in the 2nd & 3rd!

Not sure where the image came from, but I love everything about it!

Obsolete

If you're looking for rare and unusual in LA you have to visit Obsolete on Main St. in Santa Monica.  It's like walking into a museum, except here, you can take the exhibits home with you (if you can afford it).  Nevertheless, it's worth the trip.

I LOVE this foyer, unfortunately I have no idea who/what/where it is? Anyone?

From The Inspiration Files

I've decided to start a new series of posts showcasing some of the many things that inspire me.  I'm not sure yet if it will be a daily post, weekly, or just whenever the mood strikes... we'll just have to wait and see...

Today's inspiration comes from the immensely talented stylist and set designer, Lili Dialo.  I can't tell you how much I LOVE her loft... this room especially!  Check out more of her work here.

An Unlikely Source For Rugs

I have been scouring the internet (& most of the L.A. area for that matter) for an affordable area rug that will add some color and pattern to my living room and have FINALLY come across some good options in the most unlikely place...Lamps Plus!  The rugs shown are all in the price range of $250-600 for 5' x 8' up to 8' x 11'. (most are closer to $300-500).  I still haven't settled on one, but I definitely think I have some good options to chose from now!

BEST KID EVER!

Gracie Studio

Gracie Studio specializes in hand painted furniture, panels, and wallpaper...but are best known for these amazing hand-painted wallpapers created in their China studio.  Working with highly trained Chinese artisans, Gracie has provided hand-painted wallpapers to the public for nearly a century.  Custom order work is a specialty... You can choose everything from the coloration to the types of flowers used. (These blurry images don't do them justice).

Odegard Architectural + Decorative Surfaces

I absolutely love these panels from Odegard... The handcrafted artisanal tiles and panels can be customized to nearly any size and use, from wall treatments to tabletops. They offer a variety of designs in wood and marble, as well as mirrored mosaics and metal. Prices start at $100 per square foot.

Adler-Designed Townhouse

I absolutely love this Manhattan townhouse designed by Jonathan Adler..."Fashion designer Nanette Lepore and her husband, Robert Savage, infuse a Victorian townhouse in Manhattan's West Village with an appreciation for the past, a passion for Hollywood glamour, and a lust for life."

Brutal Design

There is something awkwardly appealing about objects designed for the home that have an almost violent twist to them...I especially like the ones that hold flowers because they create a sort of oxymoron effect (or maybe it's because they remind me of one of my favorite artists, Banksy?)
